Reseach Development and Productionc Center ORION, Joint-Stock Company - Russian Federation State Science Center (RD&P Center ORION, JSC) was founded in 1946 on the initiative of Academician S. I. Vavilov, President of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and is Russia’s leading research center in the field of solid-state photoelectronics. Over the years,RD&P Center ORION, JSC has developed and manufactured thousands of new products, including image intensifier tubes, night vision devices, photodetectors and photodetector units, thermal imaging devices, infrared lasers, electron beam and ion-plasma equipment, electron microscopes, specialized computers, and other devices and equipment. Currently, RD&P Center ORION, JSC specializes in the development and production of photodetector systems for science, industry, defense and security, space, and other industries. The center’s core business is photodetectors and photodetector devices, including second- and third-generation photoelectronic modules operating in the ultraviolet to far-infrared spectral range. These modules are manufactured using basic photosensitive materials and microelectronic circuits for reading and processing photosignals, including those cooled to cryogenic temperatures. The center employs all types of high technologies: microelectronic, ion-plasma, electron beam, vacuum, laser, molecular beam, microcryogenic, and many others, ensuring research, development, and production at the highest global level. The State Research Center, in collaboration with the country’s higher education institutions, trains highly qualified personnel at the core departments of the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics, and Automation (Technical University) and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University), as well as in graduate schools and the Association’s Training and Production Center. The State Research Center hosts the International Scientific and Technical Conference and Exhibition on Photoelectronics and Night Vision Devices and the All-Russian Seminar on Theoretical and Applied Electron Optics. The center is the founder and publisher of the scientific and technical journal “Advances in Applied Physics” (featuring extended articles and reviews) and the scientific and technical journal “Applied Physics” (for urgent publication of short articles). The work of RD&P Center ORION, JSC has been recognized with Stalin, Lenin, State Prizes, and USSR and Russian Government Prizes, with 51 employees receiving these awards. RD&P Center ORION, JSC products have repeatedly received special prizes, diplomas, and medals (gold, silver, and bronze) at domestic and international exhibitions in Russia and around the world, including the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Colombia, China, and South Korea.
