Short laser pulses can be significantly amplified by Raman backscattering in a plasma within an oversized dielectric capillary. The capillary allows compensating diffraction spreading of the pulses and maintaining high amplification efficiency on traces larger than the diffraction length. Parame-ters of an experiment for laser pulses amplification in a capillary plasma are proposed.
